Benefits of Dance
HDA prides itself on teaching children and young adults the finer arts of dance. Dance is a great, fun way to keep your child active, and there are other benefits:
Can Improve Physical Health
Dance is a physical activity and if taken regularly, expect to see your child improve in the following areas: flexibility, stamina, balance, coordination, and range of motion. Most importantly, it gives children the motivation to keep exercising!
Increases Social and Communication Skills
In a normal dance class, children are asked to communicate and cooperate as a group, as individuals, and as pairs. In addition, dancing can help reduce any fears a child may have about performing (or even speaking) in front of a crowd.
Allows the Room for Self-Expression
The emphasis on self-expression in dance separates dance from other forms of physical activity. Expressiveness is imperative to a great performance, so teachers really harp on it! Dance gives children the freedom to simply be themselves and be proud of that.
Teaches Education & Discipline
In dance classes, children are regularly asked to memorize movement sequences. Simply, this helps children practice their memorization skills (which is particularly important in early education) while encouraging a detail-oriented mindset.
Can Help Improve Self-Esteem
As children learn more about dance and adjust to movement, they’ll start to gain a better sense of their bodies that will allow them to feel more comfortable in their own skin. The more comfortable in his or her own skin, the easier it will be to develop and maintain confidence!
Dance is for both Girls & Boys
Dance classes are NOT just for girls! All of the benefits above apply to boys and girls. The number of boys taking dance classes has grown and it is continuing to do so!
Choose Your Classes and Let’s Begin!
My oldest daughter started at HDA 6 yrs ago – we love the studio! She has learned so much and excelled so much over the years! Our youngest started in Mommy and Me classes and is now in pre-school classes. I love the teachers and students here. If you are looking for a dance family, please try HDA!

I’m so pleased with our experience at Hermitage Dance Academy. The instructors are great, top notch choreography, and the annual recital is absolutely amazing! Most importantly Andrea (owner), Paula (her mother) & staff make you and your child feel like you are part of a huge family, which is most important. Glad our first studio will be our forever studio home.
Tiffany Baker - Nashville, TN
My daughter learned how to dance and so much more at HDA! She learned self-respect, kindness, and how to build her self esteem. This is by far the best dance studio in Tennessee!
Jamie Leery - Nashville, TN
Very professional and committed to excellence. Highly recommended!

This has been a very good experience for our daughter and family. We are allowed to watch her on the monitors. Our daughter loves attending dance. This is our first full time experiencing during the Fall. We tried it out over the summer and decided to continue. The rates are very reasonable. You can also pay online or have it automatically drafted. This is our second dance studio that we’ve attended. The first one was absolutely horrible and unappealing. We are happy with Hermitage Dance Academy.

My daughter has danced at HDA since she was 4 years old and we love it. She has learned and grown so much as a dancer because of the wonderful teachers at HDA. Andrea the owner and a teacher is so creative and has such a great vision with her dances they are like no other. We love our dance family and have developed so many friendships here. They will last a lifetime.

My daughter has been going here for over four years now -it is a great school! Every year they have a spectacular performance/recital at Belmont University. I highly recommend it to those parents whose children have interest in the dance arts or in a healthy extracurricular activity!
